Sources of Club Funding From the Association

Club and Affiliate Tiered Funding

The Alumni Association supports all tiers and allocates access to funding within all tiers.

Specific funding levels change year over year based on the strategic priorities of the Alumni Association. Funding levels are communicated by the Alumni Association in July and funding is released to the clubs and affiliates two times per year. Each club or affiliate will be told their funding amount after they complete the required paperwork and submit their first six-month planning calendar. Half of the total funds are released in July and the other half in January after the club or affiliate has submitted the second six-month calendar.

Tier one clubs/affiliates receive the highest level of funding from the Alumni Association and exhibit the highest alumni engagement impact and return.

Ranges of funding between tiers can change based on a two-year performance evaluation. Global engagement team liaisons will discuss funding levels and review the annual scorecard with club and affiliate leadership to help each board understand its performance and opportunity for development.

Funding comes from a variety of sources including Alumni Association membership dues, Alumni Association revenue driving programs (travel, Camp Michigania), and sponsorship. By becoming a dues-paying member of the Alumni Association, you are directly helping support our clubs and affiliates.

Operational Funding

Clubs and affiliates can also generate funding on their own through events they sponsor. Most clubs or affiliates charge attendees for events and will integrate operational costs into the price of tickets to ensure that there is a buffer of funds to help support all activities.

Event Funding

For clubs and affiliates in tiers two and three, additional funding is available through the event funding form. This
is awarded at the Association’s discretion in an effort to enhance or support local events or other activities that
help accomplish key strategic goals within the Alumni Association’s mission. The maximum award for an event
is $250 and each club/affiliates in tiers two and three can receive that award twice a year.
