Update Your Club Website: WordPress

Logging In

Before you can access the WordPress Admin section to update your club website, you must complete an initial log in to the site using single-sign on (SSO).  Once the user is registered, AAUM will grant admin access, which opens the WordPress Dashboard.

Click "Log In"

Select your ordinary method of logging in (either attached social account or University of Michigan).

Once you've logged in, fill out your contact information here.  Once we've received notification that you've logged in and fill out the form, you will be given access. 

Once you have been given access, log back into umalumni.com, click on Alumni Association of the University of Michigan and you'll see a menu on the left.

"Secondary Pages"

Secondary pages are for the bulk of your content: everything from scholarship information, upcoming events, or other ways to get involved.  You can create new secondary pages, and edit or delete existing pages.  New secondary pages can be put under a Parent page by selecting that page under Page Attributes.  

To create a new page, select Secondary Pages and click New at the top.


Add the name of your page and the text that should appear on the page.  Make sure you include your club name in the title "U-M Club of Atlanta: "

Editing a Page

To edit a page, open the "Secondary Club Pages" area and find the page you wish to edit.  Hover over the name of the page you wish to edit and select Edit (Classic Editor)  The editor is wysiwyg.   

Once you have made your changes select Update on the right to save your changes.  

Adding Media (Images and Documents)

To insert an image click the Add Media button at the top left hand of the page and Select Files.  Once your file is selected Click Insert Media at the lower right hand side.  

You may edit your image by clicking the Edit icon.

Each page can have a parent, which allows the sidebar menu to collapse:

To assign the correct parent page, open the "Secondary Club Pages" area and find the "child" page.

Click: "Quick Edit"

Select the correct parent page in the Parent drop-down selector.  Enter a number to select the order of the secondary pages. 

Click "Update."
